The church Stella Maris in Porto Cervo. Sardinia.

Stella Maris (starfish) overlooking Porto Cervo’s Old Port, is a masterpiece of modern architecture, designed by Michele Busiri Vici in the early 1960’s, commissioned by the Aga Khan. The noble simplicity, and  scent of juniper wood used to pave the floors, makes this church a peaceful gem in Sardinia. Embracing the natural elements of the Island to create a peaceful sanctuary, overlooking the crystal blue waters. In one of the niches, El Greco’s intense Mater Dolorosa is displayed. Above the entrance sits the recently restored barreled organ, planned by the master and great architect Tommaso Demartino.
